大相撲、十両の大砂嵐が先月、長野県山ノ内町で無免許で車を運転し、追突事故を起こしたとされる問題で、長野県警は７日、大砂嵐を道路交通法違反の無免許運転の疑いで書類送検した。

長野県警によると、大砂嵐は先月３日、山ノ内町のスキー場を訪れた際に追突事故を起こした。県警は大砂嵐本人から任意で事情を聞くなどし捜査を進めていたが、７日午前、道路交通法違反の無免許運転の疑いで長野地検に書類送検した。

大砂嵐は日本相撲協会の聞き取りに対し、「自分は運転していなかった。妊娠中の妻をかばうために運転席にいった」などと説明していた。

警察は大砂嵐の認否については明らかにしていない。
