The cats look on advertising boards for 2 weeks from 12 Sept.
The aim is to produce a “relaxing, fun and light-hearted” space free from commercial adverts, Cats said.
James Turner, from the collective, said: “It’s really caught people’s imagination – most people enjoy cats.
“The idea of an unwinding and peaceful space merely with pictures of cats and kittens is appealing. People are interested because there is absolutely no brand, no commercial reason for executing it. ”
‘What the internet loves’
The images will be around the turnstiles (which the particular collective are calling cat flaps), down the escalators and leading up to the platform. The aim is which, wherever people look, there will be kittens and cats.
The adverts will be word-free besides one which will highlight the effort of Battersea Dogs and cats Home and Cat Security charities.
The idea emerged coming from a 200-strong group called Look, which wanted to exhibit how “friends and experiences will be more valuable than stuff you can buy” said Mr Turner.
Initially they were planning to use pictures of forests as well as the ocean.
“But then we thought about grabbing people’s attention and should use the single thing that the internet enjoys and cats were the most obvious answer, ” he added.
He said he loved the concept as it was “very subversive, as there’s nothing anyone are capable of doing about it”.
“If you can’t have a very real cat, this will be your next best thing, ” he added.
