The cats look on advertising boards for two main weeks from 12 Sept.
The aim is to offer a “relaxing, fun and light-hearted” space free from commercial adverts, Cats said.
James Turner, from the collective, said: “It’s really caught people’s imagination – everyone loves cats.
“The idea of a restful and peaceful space only with pictures of kittens and cats is appealing. People are interested because there is absolutely no brand, no commercial reason for carrying it out. ”
‘What the internet loves’
The images will be around the turnstiles (which the actual collective are calling cat flaps), down the escalators and before the platform. The aim is which, wherever people look, there will be kittens and cats.
The adverts will be word-free in addition to one which will highlight the job of Battersea Dogs and cats Home and Cat Protection charities.
The idea emerged coming from a 200-strong group called Look, which wanted to show how “friends and experiences are more valuable than stuff you’ll be able to buy” said Mr Turner.
Initially they were likely to use pictures of forests as well as the ocean.
“But then we contemplated grabbing people’s attention and should use the one solution that the internet adores and cats were the obvious answer, ” he added.
He said he loved the idea as it was “very subversive, as there’s nothing anyone can perform about it”.
“If you can’t possess a real cat, this will be the next best thing, ” he added.
