Running Race vs Ramayana
I was in First or Second standard (My mom told be about this incident) and I was never really a fan of sports day at school, especially running race (coz I used to be the last always). I was known for being very talkative. During one of the sports day, my PT teacher was asking me to run for the race and I didn’t want to go. He insisted on me participating in the race and I didn’t know what to do to escape. I came up with this brilliant idea thinking it would please him – I had asked him to sit beside me and that I would tell him Ramayana story instead! My grandma used to tell me a lot of such stories, and the effect of that. My mom was working in the same school and the PT sir told this to her and said that he was taken aback! Even to this day, people at home keep making fun of me for this.
Embarrassing my aunt
I was 6 or 7 when one of my uncles (Mom’s brother) got married. There was a small function at home where they had to welcome the bride (my aunt) home. After she came home, she was talking to me asking me how my school was and something like that. I don’t know what made me ask, but, I asked if she had a baby in her stomach! Loudly. And then there was a burst of laughter! I didn’t realize why people laughed then. I embarrassed her the first day she came into our house.. 😛
Thank the Dog!
I was in 4th standard and I used to go for music classes that was two roads away from home. Whenever I had to pay fees to the music class, my grandpa would accompany me so that he can hand over the money safely. One day they gave me the fees (100 rupees I guess) and asked me to take it carefully as my grandpa could not come. I was scared that I would lose the money. I kept it in my notebook and while walking I would look at it every few seconds to make sure that it was there. To my surprise (shock actually), when I opened the book half way to the class, it wasn’t just there! I didn’t know how I lost it. I came back all the way searching for it and couldn’t find it. I was running here and there which made a dog mad and it started chasing me. I ran home crazily. When I reached home I was panting and crying terribly. I was still in shock that when my grandparents asked me what happened, I just said “Dog.. Dog”.. They thought a dog actually bit me and were very tensed. When the situation settled down, I told them what had happened. They did not scold me for losing the money because they were relieved that I wasn’t bitten by a dog.
Pick and Sing 😀
I was in Engineering first semester (not childhood, but this is funny). We used to have language classes in the first year. We had Kannada class in that semester and the Kannada sir decided to have an activity for us – Pick and Speak! We had to pick up a chit and talk about the topic in kannada for 2 to 3 minutes. When my turn came, I picked up a chit and the topic was Surya (Sun)! I thought for a while and could not come up with proper sentences to speak. I just turned to him and asked if I could sing a song about Sun(I had learnt a new kannada song on Sun)! The whole class started laughing. And I did Sing about Sun that day. It is quite embarrassing to think that I did that in college 😛
