台風１８号は１７日夕方に四国へ再上陸し、暴風域を伴ったまま西日本を縦断する見込みで、気象庁は、香川県高松や大阪など瀬戸内海沿岸を中心に、高潮被害にも警戒するよう呼びかけている。兵庫県姫路市の姫路城前から読売テレビの福島達朗記者が伝える。
姫路市では１７日午後３時半ごろに最大瞬間風速１９．８メートルを記録した。午後４時すぎから雨が降り出し、時折、体を飛ばされそうな強い風が吹いている。雨が降るまではたくさんの観光客の姿が見えたが、ほとんど見えなくなっている。
姫路城の近くにあるＪＲ姫路駅では雨が強まってきて、近くの建物に駆け込む人や、強風で傘を飛ばされる人がいた。姫路市を含む兵庫県南部では１８日昼までに２５０ミリ、１時間では最大で７０ミリの非常に激しい雨が予想されている。
一方、この台風の影響で、ＪＲ西日本は、大阪や京都と和歌山を結ぶ「特急くろしお」について、上下線合わせて２２本を運休することを決めた。
在来線では、大阪環状線やＪＲ神戸線、京都線などが、本数をおおむね半分ほどに減らして運行されている。
また、山陽新幹線は新岩国駅と徳山駅の間で木が倒れた影響で停電が発生し、上下線ともに広島駅から博多駅の間で運転を見合わせていて、復旧は午後６時以降だという。
台風１８号は１７日午後９時ごろに姫路市付近を通過する見込み。姫路港の満潮時刻は午後１０時３１分で、厳重な警戒が必要。
