The cats look on advertising boards for two weeks from 12 Sept.
The aim is to supply a “relaxing, fun and light-hearted” space exempt from commercial adverts, Cats said.
James Turner, from the collective, said: “It’s really caught people’s imagination – everybody enjoys cats.
“The idea of a relaxing and peaceful space just with pictures of pet cats is appealing. People are interested because there isn’t any brand, no commercial reason for doing it. ”
‘What the internet loves’
The images will be about the turnstiles (which the actual collective are calling kitten flaps), down the escalators and prior to the platform. The aim is which, wherever people look, there will be cats and kittens.
The adverts will be word-free aside from one which will highlight the project of Battersea Cats and dogs Home and Cat Safety charities.
The idea emerged from your 200-strong group called Peek, which wanted to express how “friends and experiences are more valuable than stuff you possibly can buy” said Mr Turner.
Initially they were likely to use pictures of forests as well as the ocean.
“But then we considered grabbing people’s attention and should use just the thing that the internet loves and cats were the well known items answer, ” he added.
He said he loved the idea as it was “very subversive, as there’s nothing anyone can do about it”.
“If you can’t possess a real cat, this will be your next best thing, ” he added.
