The cats will be on advertising boards for just two weeks from 12 Sept.
The aim is to offer a “relaxing, fun and light-hearted” space free from commercial adverts, Cats said.
James Turner, from the collective, said: “It’s really caught people’s imagination – we all love cats.
“The idea of a calming and peaceful space simply just with pictures of pet cats is appealing. People are interested because there is no brand, no commercial reason for performing it. ”
‘What the internet loves’
The images will be round the turnstiles (which your collective are calling kitty flaps), down the escalators and before the platform. The aim is that will, wherever people look, there will be pet cats.
The adverts will be word-free aside from one which will highlight the effort of Battersea Dogs and cats Home and Cat Safeguard charities.
The idea emerged from the 200-strong group called Peek, which wanted to show how “friends and experiences tend to be valuable than stuff you can buy” said Mr Turner.
Initially they were about to use pictures of forests and the ocean.
“But then we pondered grabbing people’s attention and should use the thing that the internet really likes and cats were well-known answer, ” he added.
He said he loved the thought as it was “very subversive, as there’s nothing anyone is able to do about it”.
“If you can’t have a very real cat, this will be the subsequent best thing, ” he added.
