The cats can look on advertising boards for just two weeks from 12 September.
The aim is to offer a “relaxing, fun and light-hearted” space totally free of commercial adverts, Cats said.
James Turner, from the collective, said: “It’s really caught people’s imagination – we all love cats.
“The idea of a soothing and peaceful space simply just with pictures of felines is appealing. People are interested because there’s no brand, no commercial reason for carrying it out. ”
‘What the internet loves’
The images will be across the turnstiles (which your collective are calling cat flaps), down the escalators and prior to the platform. The aim is that will, wherever people look, there will be kittens and cats.
The adverts will be word-free besides one which will highlight the job of Battersea Cats and dogs Home and Cat Protection charities.
The idea emerged at a 200-strong group called Look, which wanted to convey how “friends and experiences tend to be more valuable than stuff you can buy” said Mr Turner.
Initially they were likely to use pictures of forests along with the ocean.
“But then we seriously considered grabbing people’s attention and should use the single thing that the internet likes and cats were the obvious answer, ” he added.
He said he loved the theory as it was “very subversive, as there’s nothing anyone can perform about it”.
“If you can’t have a very real cat, this will be your next best thing, ” he added.
